According to the 1900 US Federal Census, John Agate and Mary Austin Agate were married October of 1867. They had three children. The oldest was Edith who born in 1873 and died in 1961. The middle child was Elroy. He was born in 1874 and died in 1952.  The youngest child was John Herbert Agate, who was born in 1883 and died in 1948.
